TOPPAN and Infcurion will add a bank account top-up function to Regional Pay, a cashless payment service for municipalities. The function will launch on Kihoku Town’s digital regional currency, KIHOCA, on 1 November 2026.
A bank account top-up function will be added to Regional Pay, TOPPAN’s cashless payment platform for municipalities. The function is scheduled to launch first on 1 November with KIHOCA, the digital regional currency of Kihoku Town, Ehime Prefecture.
The bank account top-up function will be implemented by integrating Infcurion’s CharG top-up platform with Regional Pay and using Bank Pay, provided by the Japan Electronic Payment Promotion Organization. KIHOCA users will be able to top up directly online from accounts at participating financial institutions.
At launch, the service will support 369 of the financial institutions participating in Bank Pay nationwide, with coverage expected to expand gradually. KIHOCA is a digital regional currency operated by the town. Since its introduction in 2023, its scope of use has expanded to include participating stores in the town and municipal points programs.
The integration is intended to improve the convenience of regional currencies by eliminating the need for individual connections to each financial institution and removing restrictions on existing top-up methods. TOPPAN has indicated that it will continue expanding Regional Pay to 170 municipalities nationwide.
