TOPPAN Holdings and Infcurion plan to add bank account top-up functionality to Regional Pay and launch the service for KIHOCA, the digital local currency of Kihoku, Ehime Prefecture, on 1 November 2026.
A group company of TOPPAN Holdings and Infcurion,Inc. announced that they will integrate the municipality-focused cashless payments platform Regional Pay® with the top-up platform CharG to add functionality for topping up from bank accounts. The functionality is scheduled to be provided for KIHOCA.
The initial rollout will target KIHOCA, the digital local currency of Kihoku, Ehime Prefecture, enabling local residents to top up online from their bank accounts. This will expand the ways residents can fund the digital local currency without opening a dedicated account, and is expected to make everyday payments more convenient.
As digital local currencies become more widely adopted to advance municipal digital transformation and stimulate local economies, moving top-ups online can help lower the barriers to adoption. The companies are highlighting the benefit of adding the functionality without requiring major system modifications, while leveraging the Regional Pay® platform.
Going forward, the companies aim to expand nationwide to municipalities, starting with Kihoku. They have set a target of adoption by 170 municipalities nationwide by fiscal 2026 and indicated a policy of supporting greater cashless convenience for residents and businesses.
