IIJ has signed an agreement with Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture, on power supply during disasters and announced plans to use the large-capacity storage batteries and EV chargers at Matsue DCP to supply power to 2 community centers in the city during disasters. The planned supply is approximately 1,000 kWh, enough to cover 2 days of power consumption at evacuation shelters.
IIJ signed an agreement with Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture, effective today, concerning power supply and other assistance during disasters. Under the agreement, IIJ will use the large-capacity lithium-ion storage batteries and EV chargers already installed at Matsue DCP to supply power to community centers in the city serving as evacuation shelters during disasters. The initiative aims to strengthen the region’s disaster preparedness and resilience.
The storage batteries will also serve as backup power for the data center. During a disaster, their stored power will be used to rapidly charge EVs, which will then be driven to evacuation shelters to supply power. Matsue DCP will supply approximately 1,000 kWh to the city, equivalent to about 2 days of power consumption if the community centers are used as evacuation shelters.
