SENKO Group Holdings conducted a demonstration test of B24 biofuel near Osaka Port jointly with Taiyo Oil and 金森石油, using the 扇泰丸. The test confirmed the onboard blending procedure and operating conditions.
The demonstration was conducted from 4 to 6 October 2026 using the 扇泰丸, a chemical tanker with a carrying capacity of 1,247 tonnes, at Osaka's Ajikawa No. 2 Quay.
For the demonstration, A heavy oil was supplied to the 扇泰丸 at Taiyo Oil's Shikoku Business Office on 3 October, after which the vessel sailed to Osaka. On 4 October, the barge 幸旭丸 was berthed alongside the 扇泰丸 to supply B100.
A total of 2.4 kL of B100 stored in drums on the barge was transferred to the 扇泰丸's fuel tank, where it was circulated and blended with A heavy oil to produce B24 fuel, followed by a test run.
No abnormalities were observed in the engine or other equipment during the test run through 6 October, confirming that the 扇泰丸 could continue safe and stable operations. The companies will continue monitoring operating conditions and accumulating knowledge while working to reduce environmental impact on the premise of safe and stable operations.
