Marubun, a semiconductor trading company, announced the launch of security and patrol services powered by artificial intelligence. The services will be provided mainly to security companies and are expected to be used in office buildings and commercial facilities.
The service will use humanoid robots made by U.S.-based Aeolus Robotics and will be offered on a subscription basis. The robots can press elevator buttons themselves, enabling them to patrol multiple floors, according to the company.
Marubun has experience providing robots for care facilities, among other applications. It aims to reduce staffing requirements in the security industry, where labor shortages are becoming increasingly severe.
The service is expected to be demonstrated and deployed in office buildings and commercial facilities going forward.
