Yaskawa Electric's interim results for the fiscal year ending February 2027 showed strong performance in Motion Control and lower profits in Robotics by segment. The full-year revenue forecast was revised up to ¥600.0 billion, while operating income declined.
By segment, Motion Control revenue was ¥137.286 billion, up 21.7% year on year, and operating income was ¥15.973 billion, up 32.8%. Sales expanded in the Americas, China, South Korea, and Taiwan, driven by increased investment related to data centers and semiconductors. AC servo motors and controllers grew mainly in semiconductor- and electronic-component-related markets and machine tools, generating higher revenue in all regions. Inverters saw growth in data-center applications, semiconductor manufacturing equipment, and oil and gas-related markets.
Robotics, by contrast, reported revenue of ¥118.404 billion, down 0.7% from the same period a year earlier, and operating income of ¥5.974 billion, down 43.3%, resulting in a substantial decline in profit. Sales to the automotive industry were strong in the Americas, while sales of semiconductor robots were strong in China, but sales in Japan declined due to the impact of the core-system migration. In Europe, the temporary recognition of business-structure reform costs also had an impact.
System Engineering reported revenue of ¥20.778 billion, up 11.2% year on year, and operating income of ¥3.480 billion, up 79.5%. The increase in revenue and improved project profitability drove higher profit. Other businesses reported revenue of ¥9.128 billion, down 3.5%, and operating income of ¥575 million, down 38.5%.
The company revised its consolidated full-year forecast for the fiscal year ending February 2027, raising revenue from the previous forecast of ¥580.0 billion to ¥600.0 billion. Operating income was lowered from ¥60.0 billion to ¥57.5 billion, while pretax income was raised to ¥65.5 billion and net income to ¥47.5 billion. The upward revenue revision is mainly due to expectations for a weaker yen, while the operating income forecast incorporates production and shipment impacts from the core-system migration during the interim period.
