A new jewelry store will open inside the Kanmon Strait Museum on 30 October 2026. It will display and sell Mojiko Retro-inspired jewelry and locally produced collaborative products.
The Kanmon Strait Museum announced that it will open a new store, “FUTAGO JAPAN Kanmon Strait Museum store,” at the museum on Friday, 30 October 2026. The store will be operated jointly by the Mojiko Co-Creation Project Team joint venture and FUTAGO JAPAN株式会社, as the first company established under a business startup support program.
The store will be located at 1-3-3 Nishikaigan, Moji-ku, Kitakyushu, inside the Kanmon Strait Museum. Products will include Mojiko Retro-inspired jewelry, the international award-winning “Drop of Umami,” and bridal jewelry, including the Mojiko Wedding Ring Series. The new store will display locally produced collaborative products that combine Japanese tradition and design.
To coincide with Sushi Day on 1 November, the store will specially display and present the jewelry piece “Drop of Umami,” inspired by the fish-shaped soy sauce dispensers symbolic of Kitakyushu’s sushi and seafood culture. The piece, titled The Eternal Savory, pays tribute to the Japanese dining table through smoky quartz cutting, a 360-degree rotating mechanism and cold-enamel techniques.
The piece received an Honorable Mention in the Product Design category at the 2026 DNA Paris Design Awards. The initiative is intended to convey the appeal of regional brands to the world and is positioned as part of a regional revitalization model that makes use of the advantages of the sea, the land and its people.
