Suzuki will launch the kei EV “e-Sky” on 16 November. Prices will start at ¥2.12 million including tax, the lowest among domestic kei EVs. The driving range on a full charge is 310 km, with the effective price after subsidies expected to be approximately ¥1.55 million. Suzuki is targeting monthly sales of 1,000 units.
Suzuki announced that it will launch its new kei EV, the “e-Sky,” on 16 November. The price will start at ¥2.12 million including tax, making it the lowest among comparable vehicles in Japan.
The driving range on a full charge is 310 km, the longest among kei cars from Japanese manufacturers, while its electricity consumption is stated to be 11.92 km per kWh. With national subsidies, the effective price is expected to start at approximately ¥1.55 million, reportedly more than ¥300,000 below that of Nissan’s “Sakura.” The monthly sales target is 1,000 units.
This is Suzuki’s first kei EV launch. The company held the leading position in Japan’s kei car market last year, with a 34% market share, but had fallen behind other manufacturers in EVs.
The announcement indicates improved price competitiveness in Japan’s kei EV market and the full-scale expansion of Suzuki’s EV lineup.
