Suzuki is expected to officially announce its new compact passenger EV, the “e SKY (e-Sky),” on 6 October. The vehicle is expected to achieve a WLTC driving range of 310km with a 26kWh battery. The design is said to evoke the Alto while retaining a restrained EV character, resulting in a finish that blends into everyday surroundings.
The full details of Suzuki’s new compact passenger EV, the “e SKY (e-Sky),” which is due to be officially announced this autumn, are expected to be revealed on 6 October, drawing considerable attention.
The vehicle measures 3395mm in length, 1475mm in width and 1625mm in height, with a 2460mm wheelbase. It has the same dimensions as the Alto, although it is designed with a 100mm greater height. The exterior incorporates the grille-free character of an EV while retaining a familiar, approachable finish.
Specifications include a 26kWh battery, maximum output of 47kW and a WLTC-mode driving range of 310km. The development concept is “Easy to Switch!”, with features designed to dispel concerns about switching from a gasoline-powered vehicle.
Key selling points are said to include smooth acceleration that eases the concerns of first-time EV users, easy-to-operate speed control functions and a high level of quietness. The vehicle itself can also be used as a large-capacity portable power supply for outdoor activities and in the event of a disaster.
Details remain unknown until the official announcement, but with rivals such as Nissan’s “Sakura” and Honda’s “N-ONE e:” in mind, the vehicle is expected to emphasize practicality and ease of use.
