SCREEN Holdings announced its results for the first quarter of the fiscal year ending March 2027 on 28 July. First-quarter revenue was ¥121.7 billion, down 10.3% year on year, while operating profit was ¥14.3 billion, down 41.1%, resulting in declines in both revenue and profit. The company explained that the impact of projects shifted between periods was in line with its expectations. Orders reached a record high against a backdrop of AI investment.
The full-year outlook was revised substantially upward, with revenue raised to ¥743.0 billion from ¥725.0 billion and operating profit raised to ¥156.5 billion from ¥150.0 billion. The annual dividend was also increased to ¥183, which is expected to mark a new record high. By segment, SPE reported declines in both revenue and profit, while GA and FT posted increases in both revenue and profit. PE recorded a small profit or loss.
By region, China’s share of revenue fell to 27% from 41% in the previous quarter, while the shares of Europe, the U.S. and Taiwan increased. In terms of the supply-demand gap, requests to pull forward equipment deliveries at times slightly exceeded capacity, making the degree of certainty around second-half order and production plans a focus.
The company is accelerating investment to expand production capacity, including the installation of additional production equipment in Kyoto and Nagaokakyo in the first half of next year and efficiency-enhancement renovations in Hikone. Post-sales revenue is expected to exceed ¥100.0 billion for the first time and is positioned as a source of support for profitability over the longer term.
