OPTiM will update its MDM and PC management service OPTiM Biz to version 10.7 on 18 October. File operation logs on Windows devices will newly be recorded, enabling the identification of signs that confidential files have been taken outside the organisation and the tracing of their causes. Log collection will also support external devices.
OPTiM announced on 16 October that it will update OPTiM Biz to version 10.7 on 18 October. The new functionality will support the collection of file operation logs from Windows devices, enabling the history of file operations to be tracked.
The six types of activity recorded are file renaming, moving, deletion, copying, overwriting and creation. Administrators will be able to detect suspicious bulk copying or movement of confidential files. In the event of a system failure, the service will support identifying the scope of impact and investigating the cause on a file-by-file basis.
Log collection will be available not only from PCs connected to the internal network but also from devices used while working from home or elsewhere. This is expected to help deter internal misconduct and strengthen audit support.
The same functionality will be available in OPTiM Biz Premium, allowing a series of procedures, including suspending departing employees’ accounts and confirming device collection, to be carried out through the integrated service.
Going forward, the company is also expected to expand Windows update management functionality to support monitoring update status by device and applying updates.
