FP CORPORATION has been selected for the newly established Plastic Circularity Contribution Award, a new category under the Fiscal 2026 Resource Circulation Technology and Systems Awards, organized by the Japan Environmental Management Association for Industry and supported by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
Since 1990, the company has established a proprietary recycling system involving four parties: consumers, supermarkets, packaging-material wholesalers and FP CORPORATION. Under this system, used food trays, clear containers and PET bottles are recycled into new food trays and clear containers, creating a circular business model.
Collected materials undergo advanced sorting, washing and recycling processes before being made into new products as raw materials for food containers. Their safety is ensured through compliance with the Food Sanitation Act and the Positive List System. These initiatives help reduce crude oil consumption and waste, and life-cycle assessment (LCA) has also demonstrated their CO2 reduction effect.
The award recognized the company’s pioneering establishment of a resource-circulation model involving distribution-industry stakeholders and consumers, as well as its longstanding record of promoting horizontal recycling. Going forward, the company aims to reduce CO2 emissions by 31% by the fiscal year ending March 2031 and achieve net zero by fiscal 2050.
