Shiga Bank and Ikeda Senshu Holdings disclosed that they are considering a management integration. If realized, the combined financial group is expected to rank approximately 17th nationwide by scale, with cooperation expanding from the capital and business alliance formed in April.
Shiga Bank and Ikeda Senshu Holdings disclosed on 23 October that they are considering a management integration, explaining that no specific decisions have been made at this point. According to information from Japan Interview Shimbun, the two companies acknowledged the facts following reports published on the same day.
As basic data for the survey, the simple total of the number of companies banking with the two banks as their main banks was reported at 19,884, based on Tokyo Shoko Research’s “Main Banks 2026” survey. If the integration is realized, the combined group is expected to rank approximately 17th nationwide among financial groups.
The breakdown is 10,799 companies for Shiga Bank and 9,085 for Ikeda Senshu Bank. The combined figure would exceed that of Yamaguchi Financial Group and rank second among groups based in the Kansai region. The data analyzed the main banks of 1,624,517 companies in a corporate database as of the end of March, with companies banking with multiple financial institutions counted under their largest bank.
In April, the companies entered into the capital and business alliance “Ikeda Senshu–Shiga Alliance” and are cooperating in business succession, corporate support, asset formation, human-resource development and digital services. The consolidated total assets of the two groups amounted to approximately ¥14.1 trillion on a simple combined basis as of the end of December 2025.
As part of their cooperation to support overseas expansion, the companies entered into an agreement with Marubeni on 15 October concerning preferential terms at industrial parks in India, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and elsewhere. Possible support includes local site visits, seminars, and preferential rents and management fees. The agreement is said to be the first of its kind for a regional bank.
