The “Deliver! Sainokuni Love Udon Delivery Project” has been launched in Saitama City to make effective use of food resources and provide food assistance in the community. Udon made using trimmings from 菅野製麺所 will be delivered to 9 hubs operated by 埼玉フードパントリーネットワーク across Saitama Prefecture and provided to households in need of food assistance.
The project was launched with 埼玉りそな銀行, part of the Resona Group, at its core, in cooperation with 菅野製麺所, アサヒロジスティクス, ファイブスターロジ and the NPO 埼玉フードパントリーネットワーク.
Its aim is to build a sustainable model for community co-creation that balances the effective use of food resources with food assistance in the local community.
菅野製麺所 will manufacture udon using trimmings from gyoza wrappers, which will then be supplied to 9 intermediate hubs operated by 埼玉フードパントリーネットワーク across Saitama Prefecture, with production and delivery arrangements established in cooperation with アサヒロジスティクス and ファイブスターロジ. The udon is scheduled to be distributed free of charge to households through these hubs.
埼玉りそな銀行 will serve as a hub connecting local businesses, delivery operators and support organizations, and will support coordination among the parties, the development of the delivery scheme and the dissemination of information. Going forward, it will continue to support expanded assistance for children and families raising children, while broadening its role in connecting local partners.
Against a backdrop of challenges including the need to reduce food loss and strengthen food assistance amid rising prices, the project seeks to establish a sustainable collaborative framework that reduces the burden of receiving, storing, delivering and distributing donated goods.
