NEC held the offer-holder ceremony "NEC Welcome Day 2026" at its Tamagawa campus on 1 October 2026 for prospective hires scheduled to join the company in April 2027. Approximately 1,000 people who will join as the "first cohort of the new NEC" following the group integration attended the ceremony.
Naohiro Yoshinaga (吉永尚弘) said that AI is significantly changing the nature of society and work, and discussed the need to transform the company into an AI-native company. He also stated that changing employees' mindsets, not only introducing technology, is essential. The group integration was positioned as part of this effort.
As a showcase of the prospective hires' diversity, the event introduced characteristics including hometown, field of study, personality type (MBTI) and activities during their student years, providing an opportunity for participants to understand one another's different areas of expertise. A real-time survey was also conducted to encourage relationships among the incoming cohort.
The second half featured "First Team Dialogue," group work in teams of 6. Participants discussed self-introductions, their visions for the future and their roles in the age of AI, and experienced the corporate culture through activities including writing messages to themselves one year in the future.
Representatives of the prospective hires expressed their desire to support one another's growth, while participants voiced expectations for their development over the next 6 months and collaboration after joining the company.
