Nikkiso's consolidated subsidiary CE&IG Group announced the next-generation P2KHF reciprocating pump for hydrogen stations. Testing conducted at a station in California demonstrated that liquefied hydrogen losses can be limited to below 1%.
Nikkiso Group officially announced the new P2KHF reciprocating pump for hydrogen stations. As part of its technology development aimed at ensuring a stable supply of liquefied hydrogen, the group indicated that it plans to introduce the next-generation model to meet on-site needs.
Testing was conducted at a hydrogen station in California and reportedly demonstrated that pump-related liquefied hydrogen losses can be limited to below 1%. The reduction in hydrogen losses per pump is expected to generate annual savings of up to approximately $150,000 worth of hydrogen.
As hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles become more widespread, controlling boil-off gas during storage and supply has become one of the industry's challenges. Further validation of P2KHF's effectiveness could improve the transport and supply efficiency of liquefied hydrogen, for which temperature management is difficult. Additional testing and expansion of the model's applications in actual operations will be closely watched.
