Kikkoman Foods' new plant in Jefferson, Wisconsin, officially opened and will begin shipping products in fall 2026. The plant will expand production capacity for the North American market and create local jobs.
Kikkoman Foods, Inc. opened a new manufacturing facility in Jefferson, Wisconsin, which will begin shipping products for the North American market in fall 2026. The newly built Jefferson plant will be KFI's third production facility in the United States, enabling the company to meet demand across the retail, foodservice and food manufacturing channels. The plant covers 240,000 square feet and features a flexible manufacturing layout capable of handling glass bottles, BPA-free plastic and industrial and bulk packaging formats. Jefferson is located within the Food and Beverage Innovation Campus.
The Jefferson facility represents an investment of approximately $560 million, to be made over the next 10 years. Together with the existing plant in Walworth County, the facilities are expected to create more than 80 high-paying jobs in the state, with the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation providing up to $15.5 million in performance-based tax credits as support. The company will work with educational institutions and vocational training providers to recruit and train skilled food manufacturing personnel.
As part of its environmental and sustainability initiatives, the company has stated that it aims to reduce CO2 emissions by more than 50%, reduce water usage per unit by more than 30% and achieve 100% recycling by 2030.
The opening ceremony included a ribbon-cutting, taiko drumming, a performance by a school choir and a calligraphy demonstration. Local stakeholders, including Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers, attended.
