Japan Home Centre, a major Hong Kong household goods chain, announced that it would change its store name to 真好城 in July. The company said the change was driven by the diversification of its suppliers and deteriorating Japan-China relations.
Japan Home Centre, a major household goods chain with approximately 260 stores in Hong Kong, announced that it would change its store name to 真好城 in July. Work is under way to change the signage.
The reasons cited for the name change include the fact that a store name referring to Japan no longer reflects the business and that the company’s sources of product procurement have diversified.
Some observers, however, believe that deteriorating Japan-China relations also played a role, and Hong Kong media reports have discussed the circumstances.
