The Nikkei 225 was up about ¥1,200 from the previous day as of 10 a.m. in the Tokyo stock market, briefly recovering to the ¥65,600 level. Buybacks of AI-related semiconductor stocks progressed, lifting the broader market as individual stocks recovered.
Around mid-morning on the 16th, the Nikkei 225 was up about ¥1,200 from the previous day, rising to the ¥65,600 level. Some AI- and semiconductor-related stocks saw increased buying, with Advantest and SoftBank Group notably showing signs of recovering again.
With the Nikkei 225 having recorded its third-largest point decline ever the previous day, dip-buying by individual investors spread broadly. Shares of BayCurrent and SHIFT, which had announced their results, were bought up to levels near the upper daily price limits, limiting the extent of their gains. A pause in the rise in long-term interest rates is also supporting domestic equities.
As of 10 a.m., trading value on the TSE Prime Market was estimated at ¥2.3576 trillion, while trading volume stood at 691.28 million shares.
By stock, Tokyo Electron turned higher, while IBIDEN, Recruit and Lasertec also advanced. Nissan Chemical, Ryohin Keikaku and Takashimaya, meanwhile, declined.
