The Nikkei Stock Average temporarily rose by more than ¥1,000, recovering to the ¥66,000 range. Buying spread to AI- and semiconductor-related stocks, while falling crude oil futures were also reported as a supporting factor.
On the 30th, buying spread in the Nikkei Stock Average as a reaction to the previous day's decline. The gain temporarily exceeded ¥1,000, and the index recovered to the ¥66,000 range.
Following gains in AI- and semiconductor-related stocks in the U.S. market on the 29th, buying also advanced in the Tokyo market, led by semiconductor-related stocks.
The decline in crude oil futures prices was also cited as a factor pushing up stock prices.
However, some market participants cautioned that the market could not be viewed optimistically amid expectations that the Bank of Japan's rate hikes may accelerate.
