やまびこ posted higher revenue and profits in the second quarter of the fiscal year ending December 2026, with OPE and general industrial machinery performing well in North America. In response, it raised its full-year earnings forecast. Robotic lawnmowers also continued to perform steadily in Europe.
In its earnings summary for the second quarter of the fiscal year ending December 2026, net sales rose 13.7% year on year to ¥103.782 billion, operating profit increased 37.0% to ¥16.086 billion, and quarterly net income attributable to owners of the parent rose 54.2% to ¥11.578 billion. Strong performance in the company’s core overseas OPE and general industrial machinery businesses contributed to the results. Sales of robotic lawnmowers remained firm in Europe.
By segment, sales and operating profit increased in OPE and general industrial machinery, while agricultural management machinery posted lower sales due to sluggish demand in the North American market and the impact of grain prices. In Japan, however, the company secured higher profit, partly reflecting the effects of price revisions. Consolidated net sales increased year on year and operating profit rose, with the main quarterly indicators reaching record-high levels.
In an announcement made the same day, the company raised its full-year earnings forecast, citing the continued strength of the North American sales environment despite the effects of foreign exchange movements and tariff refunds. Under the new assumptions, the yen is expected to weaken against the US dollar from ¥150 to ¥155 and against the euro from ¥175 to ¥180. Net sales are forecast to rise 9.2% from the previous fiscal year to ¥190 billion, with operating profit of ¥23 billion, ordinary profit of ¥23 billion, and net income attributable to owners of the parent of ¥16.5 billion.
Factors including exchange-rate fluctuations during the period and tariff refunds have been taken into account, along with an expected increase in selling, general and administrative expenses. Against a backdrop of growth in the robotics business and expansion in the European and North American markets, the company plans to continue expanding its businesses and developing technologies toward achieving its Medium-Term Management Plan 2028.
