Danish company A.P. Moller - Maersk reported its results for the second quarter of 2026. Revenue rose 20% year on year to $15.8 billion, while EBIT increased 89% to $1.6 billion, prompting the company to raise its full-year profit outlook.
A.P. Moller - Maersk reported revenue of $15.8 billion and EBIT of $1.6 billion for the second quarter of 2026, with both significantly exceeding the year-earlier levels. The company cited expanding demand for ocean transport and higher spot freight rates, along with increased volumes across its businesses, as the main factors.
In the ocean transport segment, loaded container volumes increased 4.1% and average freight rates rose 22%. Revenue grew 23%, while EBIT increased to $935 million. Firm exports from the Far East and supply-demand tightness caused by port congestion pushed up spot freight rates.
The Logistics and Services segment benefited from growth in Gulf-region landbridge transport, air freight and project logistics, driving a 15% increase in revenue. EBIT was $217 million, while the Terminals segment recorded a 2.2% increase in volumes and an 11% rise in revenue.
In the Middle East, some cargo was shifted to alternative ports or overland transport in response to disruptions to navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. The increase in demand spread mainly across destinations in Africa, North America and Latin America. In response, the company revised its full-year forecast upward, raising underlying EBITDA to $10.5-$12.5 billion and underlying EBIT to $4.5-$6.5 billion.
