「We are working with NVIDIA to build a distributed AI data center as part of our efforts to develop next-generation social infrastructure, while also providing the computing infrastructure services needed for a future in which AI and people coexist. In July 2023, our efforts related to providing these computing infrastructure services were certified by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry as a supply security plan for cloud programs, a specified critical material under the Economic Security Promotion Act. Through the largest-scale computing infrastructure in Japan that we are building, we aim to develop domestic generative AI in-house. In August 2023, we also agreed with Microsoft Japan Co., Ltd. on a strategic partnership focused on cloud services and generative AI, with the aim of accelerating the digital transformation of corporate and municipal customers in the Japanese market. Accordingly, while developing domestic generative AI in-house, we will provide solutions addressing a broad range of corporate needs through a multi-model generative AI framework that also uses multiple generative AI models developed by partner companies.」
For generative AI, we disclosed for the first time as an integrated initiative the construction of distributed computing infrastructure for in-house development, certification of a supply security plan by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, a strategic partnership with Microsoft Japan, and a multi-model generative AI framework using multiple generative AI models.
