「Previously, gains or losses arising from the cancellation or redemption of investment trusts were presented on an individual transaction basis, with gains included in interest and dividend income on securities under interest income and losses included in other ordinary expenses. Following amendments to the Ordinance for Enforcement of the Banking Act, which newly established core net operating profit excluding gains and losses on cancellation of investment trusts as an indicator of the performance of core operations, the nature of these gains and losses was reassessed. Because both represent returns from investment trust investments, it was decided that, from the current first-quarter cumulative consolidated period, when gains exceed losses at the end of each quarter, they will be included in interest and dividend income on securities under interest income, and when losses exceed gains, they will be included in other operating expenses, in order to present operating results more appropriately.」
Following amendments to the Ordinance for Enforcement of the Banking Act, gains and losses on cancellation and redemption of investment trusts were treated as investment returns, and their presentation was changed according to whether gains or losses exceeded the other at each quarter-end. Figures for the first quarter of the previous fiscal year were also reclassified.
