The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Sales were affected by the decline in inbound sales due to the sharp drop in visitors to Japan from China, the closure of sales areas in connection with remodeling work at the Hankyu Umeda Main Store, and rising prices. Operating income decreased due to lower gross profit resulting from the decline in revenue and higher one-time costs associated with the replacement of POS registers. Although gains on the sale of investment securities and other extraordinary gains were recorded, net income decreased because impairment losses and losses on disposal of fixed assets, among other extraordinary losses, were recorded.
