Business overview

Nintendo Co., Ltd. develops, manufactures and sells entertainment products, with its home entertainment business at its core. Its principal products are dedicated gaming systems, including hardware and software for handheld gaming systems and home consoles, as well as related products such as character merchandise and playing cards. The Company also operates businesses that leverage its intellectual property (IP), including video content and mobile applications. The group, comprising the Company and its affiliated companies, is organized as a single segment, with development, manufacturing and sales functions allocated among the companies as shown in the business flow chart. Its principal affiliated companies include Nintendo of America Inc. (United States), Nintendo of Canada Ltd. (Canada), Nintendo of Europe SE (Germany), Nintendo Australia Pty Limited (Australia), Nintendo of Korea Co., Ltd., Nintendo (Hong Kong) Limited, Nintendo Taiwan Co., Ltd. and other local subsidiaries. The group, including its overseas subsidiaries, is pursuing the expansion of businesses involving integrated hardware-software gaming systems, video and IP-related businesses, peripheral products, and cloud and network services, guided by the goals of expanding the fan base for Nintendo's IP and building long-term customer relationships. Nintendo Switch 2 was launched in June 2025, and the Company is working to invigorate its business by leveraging the installed base established by its predecessor. Software releases included Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza and Pokémon LEGENDS Z-A Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, while established titles for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 Edition titles also continued to sell steadily. Digital sales increased, mainly due to growth in downloads sold alongside packaged products, while IP-related revenue decreased, primarily because of lower film-related sales. The group's sustainability policy is based on the goal of "Bringing smiles to everyone involved with Nintendo" and focuses on 4 areas: customers, the supply chain, employees and the environment. The group has established a reporting and oversight framework involving the Sustainability Promotion Team and sustainability teams at its overseas subsidiaries, and is advancing environmental policies that include TCFD-based risk assessments.
