The reasons the company gives

The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.

Earnings exceeded expectations due to strong sales of Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma and STORY OF SEASONS: Grand Bazaar, expansion of the amusement business in Asia, increased secondary-use revenue from older TV anime titles, company-wide cost controls and foreign exchange gains. Meanwhile, revenue from Browser Sangokushi Ten fell below expectations, and the operational performance of titles released in North America was below expectations, resulting in the amortization, write-down and impairment of related assets.
