「As the Plan approached the end of its validity period, we carefully considered whether to continue it in light of changes in the business and market environments surrounding the Company, developments in legislation under the Financial Instruments and Exchange Act, and recent trends concerning takeover defense measures. As a result, we resolved not to continue the Plan and to abolish it upon the conclusion of the 68th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders. After abolishing the Plan, the Company will continue working to enhance corporate value and, ultimately, the common interests of shareholders. The renewed takeover defense measures include requests for information from large-scale purchasers, securing a review period, negotiations and the presentation of alternatives, countermeasures, gratis allotments of stock acquisition rights, establishment of an independent committee and information disclosure.
