The reasons the company gives

The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.

Revenue declined despite increased sales from new production launches in Japan, due to weak sales in Europe and China and the impact of foreign exchange translation differences caused by the stronger yen in North and South America. Operating income was pressured by U.S. tariff measures in North and South America, import-related trouble costs and higher new-launch costs, which outweighed the benefits of new production launches in Japan, workforce reductions in Europe and China, and the closure of the German plant. Ordinary income declined due to the decrease in operating income and the occurrence of foreign exchange losses. Although the company incurred a loss on the liquidation of a Chinese subsidiary and special retirement payments at a German subsidiary, it recorded a gain on negative goodwill arising from the acquisition of a Mexican subsidiary, resulting in higher net income.
