Although new launches in Japan increased sales, net sales remained at approximately the previous fiscal year's level due to sluggish sales in Europe and China. On the earnings side, U.S. tariff measures in North and South America, extraordinary expenses and foreign exchange losses pushed down profit, while personnel cost reductions in Europe and China, the gain on negative goodwill arising from the acquisition of a Mexican subsidiary and the adjustment to corporate income taxes at a U.S. subsidiary had a positive impact.

The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Although higher sales from new launches in Japan contributed to results, net sales remained at approximately the previous fiscal year's level due to sluggish sales, mainly in Europe and China. Operating income declined despite higher sales from new launches in Japan and the benefits of personnel cost reductions in Europe and China, due to the impact of U.S. tariff measures in North and South America and the recognition of extraordinary expenses. Ordinary income declined due to the recognition of foreign exchange losses. Net income attributable to owners of the parent increased because the gain on negative goodwill arising from the acquisition of a Mexican subsidiary and the adjustment to corporate income taxes at a U.S. subsidiary exceeded the costs of liquidating a Chinese subsidiary, impairment losses and restructuring costs at a German subsidiary.
