「In February 2026, we opened HANAMAKI BASE, a related-population creation hub, in central Hanamaki, Iwate Prefecture, and relocated our head office there. Since founding as an NPO in 2013, we have advocated the concept of a related population and worked with municipalities nationwide on numerous related-population creation projects to bridge the urban-rural divide. Based on this experience, we determined that 3 elements are essential to putting down deep local roots: a stay of 6 nights and 7 days or longer, an environment where people can work comfortably, and interaction with local residents. HANAMAKI BASE combines these 3 elements, accommodation, work and interaction, in a facility containing our head office, coworking space, accommodation and an exchange lounge. By embodying and building a model of related-population creation in Hanamaki, our founding city, we will apply it to developing solutions in the related-population field.」
