「To realize a low-carbon society, in addition to our longstanding production-related initiatives, such as improving energy efficiency and switching from fossil fuels, including the plan to install a new biomass boiler at the Shimada Plant, scheduled for completion in January 2027, we will also consider using J-Credits from forests, which were certified in March 2024. In terms of biodiversity conservation, the Group's privately owned forests were certified in October 2023 as a Natural Symbiosis Site, an area where biodiversity is conserved through private-sector initiatives and other efforts.」
In addition to the new biomass boiler plan, we disclosed the certification of forest-based J-Credits and the certification of the Group's privately owned forests as a Natural Symbiosis Site, making our responses to climate change and biodiversity more concrete. - FY2023AdvancedAnnual report
「We formulated a roadmap targeting a 38% reduction in energy-related CO₂ emissions from fiscal 2013 levels by fiscal 2030 and net-zero CO₂ emissions by fiscal 2050.」
The carbon neutrality initiative has been made more concrete through a roadmap with deadlines and numerical targets: a 38% reduction by fiscal 2030 and net zero by fiscal 2050. - FY2022First statedAnnual report
「The Group recognizes initiatives toward a sustainable society, including carbon neutrality, and enhanced disclosure of related information as issues to be addressed. In addition to developing new paper materials related to reducing the use of plastics, we will work to reduce CO₂ emissions by further reducing fossil fuel consumption. We are also considering the recycling of waste generated by boilers with the aim of achieving zero waste emissions within the Group. Regarding information disclosure, we published a roadmap toward carbon neutrality in December last year and disclosed an integrated report in March this year. We plan to disclose information based on the TCFD framework in June and will continue to enhance our disclosures.」
Carbon neutrality, fossil fuel reduction, zero waste emissions, and disclosures through the roadmap, integrated report and TCFD framework have been explicitly identified for the first time as a unified set of issues to be addressed.
