The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Sales of starch products remained firm, supported by the recovery in demand from the food-service industry and other factors, while sales of saccharified products declined due to consumers' increased preference for saving and weather-related factors. Share of profit from investments accounted for under the equity method also declined because of weak performance at overseas affiliates. For the fiscal year ending March 2027, the company expects to expand sales in the solutions business, reduce manufacturing costs, and improve costs at overseas affiliates.
