Operating revenue increased due to a rise in the number of stores resulting from new store openings and M&A, as well as the strengthening of initiatives supporting customers' daily lives. Profit declined, however, because of store closures caused by the Kumamoto Earthquake, persistently high raw material prices, labor shortages, higher costs associated with growth investments, investments in human capital, promotional initiatives and M&A, and the recognition of ¥1.745 billion in earthquake-related costs as an extraordinary loss.
