「We developed a wide-area communications system to support the rescue of persons who fall overboard, with the aim of quickly identifying who fell into the water, when and where, and enabling rapid rescue operations. The technology was registered with NETIS, the New Technology Information System provided by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.」

The system uses a fall-detection sensor and GNSS terminal to issue an alert and track the person’s location. LPWA communications enable location tracking even outside mobile-phone coverage, and the technology was registered with NETIS.
