An initiative to establish short-cycle, large-scale cultivation technology for licorice that meets the required levels of pharmacologically active compounds, and to commercialize domestically grown licorice as a pharmaceutical raw material, an ingredient in Kampo medicines, and a raw material for daily-use products and cosmetics. This includes everything from cultivation technology development through commercialization and test marketing.
