Changes in the recognition of customer consideration deductions and the allocation of franchise joining fees over the contract term resulting from application of the Revenue Recognition Standard

An accounting treatment topic arising from application of the Revenue Recognition Standard: customer consideration previously recorded as sales promotion expenses is reclassified as a deduction from revenue, while franchise joining fees are recognized over the contract term. The resulting reductions in revenue, operating profit and other items are also disclosed.
