A tour organized by Nippon Travel Agency will offer the first overnight service on Japan’s longest local bus route, the Yagi-Shingu Line, with departures scheduled for 31 October 2026 and 14 November 2026. The overnight service will depart from the starting point, Yamato-Yagi Station, at 1 a.m.
Nippon Travel Agency announced that it will offer its tour “The First Overnight Service on the Yagi-Shingu Line and Riding the Totsukawa Village Bus along Hazardous and Mountain Roads” on 31 October 2026 (Saturday) and 14 November 2026 (Saturday), for 2 departures in total. The tour will introduce the first overnight service on the Yagi-Shingu Line, Japan’s longest regular bus route.
The Yagi-Shingu Line connects Yamato-Yagi Station in Kashihara, Nara Prefecture, with Shingu Station in Shingu, Wakayama Prefecture, over a total distance of 169.8 km. The overnight service is scheduled to depart Yamato-Yagi at 1 a.m., using a Hino Blue Ribbon II front-door bus. Opportunities to photograph the bus from outside will be provided at multiple points along the route.
As with the regular service, the tour will operate the stop announcements, fare display and numbered-ticket machine, except on the overnight section. Arriving at Totsukawa Onsen early in the morning will make it possible to board the morning services of the Totsukawa Village Bus, which is usually difficult to access.
