Subaru has unveiled an updated version of its Stella kei high-roof wagon, with improvements to overall usability and safe-driving assistance, including the adoption of rear sliding doors. The new engine options and fuel-economy figures have also been revealed.
Subaru announced an updated version of its Stella kei high-roof wagon on 6 August 2026. The update retains the rear sliding doors, highlighting easier entry and exit and improved access for loading and unloading bulky items. The current fourth-generation model originally debuted in 2025 and offers a choice of engines, including a turbocharged unit, as well as front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive.
The powertrain lineup includes both naturally aspirated and turbocharged engines. Fuel economy reaches 22.6 km/l in WLTC mode, and buyers can choose between 2WD and 4WD according to their needs. On the safety front, the Smart Assist driver-assistance system has been enhanced with detection of vehicles approaching straight through intersections with poor visibility, bicycles crossing the road, and pedestrians.
Features designed to reduce fatigue on long journeys have also been enhanced, including improved following performance for the all-speed-range adaptive cruise control system. Lane-keep control is now more stable, while the higher-grade Z and ZS trims come standard with an active multi-information meter, further improving usability around the driver's seat. Prices range from ¥1,369,500 to ¥2,073,500.
These updates retain the spaciousness and practicality that are key attractions of the current Stella while improving driver assistance in urban areas and comfort on long-distance journeys.
