JECOS announced a business alliance with Japan Foundation Engineering, a specialist in foundation construction. Attention is focused on the impact of U.S. projects and earnings volatility as the companies collaborate mainly in areas related to earth retention.
After the close of trading on 2 October 2026, JECOS announced a business alliance with Japan Foundation Engineering. The alliance will center on leasing steel materials for earth-retaining structures, and the two companies plan to utilize their core ground-improvement technology, which involves drilling into the ground, injecting material and consolidating it.
In addition to its core drilling and injection technologies, Japan Foundation Engineering is distinguished by its in-house development, ownership and maintenance of specialized machinery. It is pursuing the “mechanization of know-how,” transferring the intuition of experienced operators to machinery, and aims to generate synergies with areas including ground improvement, water treatment and measurement management.
The biggest risk is earnings volatility, as the structure of the business means that ground-improvement projects for LNG terminals undertaken by its U.S. subsidiary affect consolidated results. Although the company disclosed that the alliance’s impact on earnings would be minor, some view it as potentially bringing changes to the business structure over the longer term.
