This seminar, featuring disassembled displays, will provide a detailed explanation of the latest power electronics for xEVs through demonstrations of actual equipment and expert commentary. It is scheduled for 2 February 2027 at a venue in Kanda, Tokyo.
The Nikkei XTECH seminar “[Disassembled displays included] An in-depth look at the latest power electronics for xEVs, using real vehicles and expert commentary” will be held in Kanda, Tokyo, on 2 February 2027. The instructor will be Professor Yamamoto Masayoshi (山本真義) of Nagoya University, who will explain the technology using disassembled equipment and photographs, analyze global development trends, and provide time for questions.
The seminar will explain design innovations related to increasing the voltage and output of traction inverters while examining disassembled components. Display items include BYD’s Racco, Leapmotor’s B05, Toyota’s new bZ4X, BYD’s U8 and Han L, Tesla’s Cybertruck and Model 3, and the domestically produced Feather Inverter. For OBCs (on-board chargers), the seminar will also introduce the Cybertruck’s implementation method and trends in the adoption of new capacitors.
The third session will cover trends in auxiliary equipment, including EPS and electric compressors, and analyze design innovations and differences through a comparison of 48V, 400V and 800V power electronics systems. The displays will again include the Racco, B05, Cybertruck and Model 3, along with explanations of OBC implementation trends and new-capacitor trends.
The seminar schedule is divided by field: the first session covers traction inverters, the second covers on-board chargers (OBCs), and the third covers auxiliary equipment (EPS and electric compressors). Each session will provide explanations of the latest technologies and the displayed equipment.
