To mark Railway Day, Tama Rokuto Science Center will hold an interactive event, “Learning the Secrets of Trains at the Science Center,” where visitors can learn how trains work. Through experiences such as operating railway models, electricity experiments and exhibitions, participants can have fun learning about the connection between familiar forms of transport and science.
To celebrate Railway Day, Tama Rokuto Science Center will hold a railway-themed interactive event on 3 and 4 October. The event will take place at the center in Nishi-Tokyo, with no charge beyond the admission fee.
The program will offer opportunities to operate railway models, live demonstrations of electrical phenomena, motor-building activities and rolling stock exhibitions, allowing visitors to learn scientific principles through the familiar subject of railways. There will also be an introduction to the preserved “Yume Kukan” rolling stock, with the aim of raising interest in the region’s railway heritage.
The event will run from 3 to 4 October 2026 and will feature a range of exhibits and activities, including children’s workshops, railway model operating experiences, panel displays and explanations of how wheel shapes are designed to negotiate curves.
With the support of the Tama Rokuto Science Center Volunteer Association, the venue will host programs held in cooperation with Tokyo College of Transport and local governments. The related program “Try Operating a Railway Model” will also be held at the same venue.
