フジキカイ, an Aichi-based packaging machinery manufacturer, announced that its entry, which reduces film waste through direct printing on a packaging machine using water-based IJP, received the Japan Star Award, the top prize at the 2026 Japan Packaging Contest. The entry will be exhibited at TOKYO PACK 2026 from October.
フジキカイ, an Aichi-based packaging machinery manufacturer, announced that its award-winning entry, “Reducing Film Waste through Water-based IJP × Direct Printing on a Packaging Machine,” received the Japan Star Award, the top prize at the 2026 Japan Packaging Contest. This is the first such achievement for the company.
The award-winning system mounts a water-based inkjet printer on a packaging machine and feeds the printed film directly into the machine, enabling the use of standard film while reducing plate costs and waste. It uses the FPW3410ⅡB packaging machine, developed jointly by 5 companies.
The packaging machine uses water-based ink for full-color, multi-color printing and completes printing, drying and inspection on a single unit. It can package up to 80 items per minute, substantially reducing the disposal of obsolete film when products are redesigned or discontinued. The system is expected to reduce costs and energy consumption by eliminating the need for labels and ribbons. Its reduction in CO2 emissions has also been demonstrated.
The award-winning entry will be displayed and demonstrated at a dedicated booth at TOKYO PACK 2026, which is scheduled to take place at Tokyo Big Sight from 14 to 16 October. In addition, a horizontal pillow packaging machine equipped with water-based IJP will be displayed and demonstrated at the venue.
