Daito Trust Construction's wholly owned subsidiary Gas Pal has fully launched its coin-operated laundry business production service. Initial orders will begin in October 2026 following the September announcement of the full-scale rollout, with the domestic market expected to grow to approximately 26,000 stores and ¥115.5 billion.
Japan's coin-operated laundry market reached approximately ¥115.5 billion and about 26,000 stores in 2025 and is viewed as a growth sector. In recent years, conveniences such as cashless payments and smartphone checks of machine availability have become widespread, while the customer base has expanded from single-person households to dual-income households and families. Companies continue to improve locations and equipment, lowering the barrier to entry for first-time operators.
Even for a small-format store, initial costs are said to be at least ¥13 million for a complete set of equipment and ¥7 million or more for interior and exterior construction, putting the indicative total at ¥20 million–¥25 million. Sales vary significantly depending on location, and energy costs have a direct impact, making a conservative financial plan before opening important, according to some observers. Gas Pal plans to expand its business supporting new openings, leveraging its accumulated operating expertise.
