Shimano announced that it had acquired all shares of fishing tackle maker Jackall. The acquisition price was not disclosed, but Jackall will remain independent after the acquisition, with President Toshirō Ono (小野 俊郎) continuing in the role.
Shimano announced that it had acquired all shares of Jackall, a fishing tackle maker specializing in lures and based in Otsu, Shiga Prefecture. The acquisition price was not disclosed. The acquisition included purchasing shares from the investment fund of Marubeni-affiliated investment company iSigma Capital and from Jackall founder and President Toshirō Ono (小野 俊郎).
Jackall is known for its original designs and products, and has earned recognition for developing lures such as the Flick Shake for bass fishing and TIMON for trout fishing. Its annual sales are estimated at approximately ¥4 billion.
Shimano plans to maintain Jackall's independence after the acquisition, with Mr. Ono (小野) continuing as president. The two companies have partnered in rod development for more than 10 years.
Shimano positions its fishing tackle business as a core business alongside bicycle components, and expects sales of ¥123.5 billion and operating profit of ¥11.4 billion in its plan for the fiscal year ending December 2026. The acquisition is expected to target synergies and strengthen Shimano's position in the lure segment.
