LINA General Insurance in Korea, a member of the Chubb Group, announced that it has appointed Kim Il-pyeong (キム・イルピョン), a former vice president of Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance, as its new representative director, effective the 15th. The new representative director will oversee the personal insurance business.
Kim Il-pyeong (キム・イルピョン) graduated from Korea University's Department of Statistics and holds a master's degree in financial engineering from the KAIST graduate school. He has more than 30 years of experience at Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance and has been recognized as a leader in areas including automobile insurance strategy, underwriting and insurance product development.
The current representative director, Mo Jae-gyeong (モ・ジェギョン), is scheduled to change from the current representative director to the representative overseeing commercial insurance. He is also expected to strengthen commercial insurance underwriting, expand sales channels and oversee the finance division.
The personnel changes appear to reflect the Chubb Group's policy of separating and specializing its personal and commercial insurance businesses in Korea. The move is seen as an effort by LINA General Insurance to strengthen its division of responsibilities between the personal and commercial insurance businesses.
