Cyberattacks targeting Japanese companies have continued, with approximately 14.64 million member records from the travel booking site Sky Ticket confirmed to have been leaked. The potential leak of up to 6.43 million BookOff member records and the impact on cloud services, including IDC Frontier, are also expanding.
On the 9th, further damage from a cyberattack came to light. Adventure, which operates the travel booking site, announced that approximately 14.64 million Sky Ticket member records had been leaked externally. Names, dates of birth, addresses and telephone numbers were among the information leaked, while passport numbers and credit card information were not affected, the company said.
BookOff announced that up to 6.43 million member records may have been leaked, saying that credit card information was not included. East Japan Railway Company said that, due to the impact through IDC Frontier, personal information including email addresses belonging to a combined total of approximately 2.06 million Eki-net and Otona no Kyujitsu Club members may have been leaked. IDC Frontier provides a cloud-based data storage service, and the impact may have spread to 495 contracted companies and local governments.
More than 1.5 billion cyberattacks against Japan were reported from October last year through September this year. Large-scale disruptions at universities and damage to familiar businesses, including delivery companies and convenience stores, have also been confirmed, according to the report.
