INDUSTRIAL-X Co., Ltd. has established SPACETWIN-X Co., Ltd. The new company will implement digital twins connecting Earth and space and begin efforts to transform space into industrial infrastructure. It was established on 15 August 2026 and is headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo.
INDUSTRIAL-X Co., Ltd. announced that it had established SPACETWIN-X as a new company to implement digital twins connecting Earth and space. SPACETWIN-X aims to transform Japan’s space industry into new industrial infrastructure by carrying forward the results of the Space Strategy Fund and expertise in transforming terrestrial industrial structures.
The new company was established against the backdrop of the government’s policy of shifting Japan’s space industry toward private-sector leadership, as well as the challenges posed by conventional satellite development, which had become prolonged and costly. It will demonstrate a shift toward “development as manufacturing” using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and data integration platforms, while strengthening supply-chain links between Earth and space centered on space platforms.
SPACETWIN-X’s main business areas are threefold: the digital transformation of space development processes, support for terrestrial industries entering the space supply chain, and development of the “Space Twin” data platform connecting Earth and space. Through these activities, the company aims to accelerate spacecraft development and expand the use of data.
Representative Director and CEO Yako Tomonori (八子知礼) presented a vision of advancing space into “infrastructure,” emphasizing two-way exchange by circulating knowledge gained through the Space Strategy Fund back to terrestrial industries and applying terrestrial technologies to space. The new company is wholly owned by its parent company, INDUSTRIAL-X, and is located in Minato-ku, Tokyo. Its establishment date and capital have been disclosed.
