Tsumura, a major Kampo medicine company, completed its acquisition of Yomeishu Manufacturing on the 1st and plans to produce and sell Yakuyō Yōmeishu through Tsumura’s sales network to strengthen its competitiveness. The acquisition price was ¥6.8 billion.
The acquisition plan was announced in February. Tsumura conducted a tender offer in cooperation with Reno, an investment company affiliated with the former Murakami Fund, and took Yomeishu Manufacturing private in June. Before taking the company private, Tsumura carved out Yomeishu Manufacturing’s food-service and retail businesses, acquired all of its shares, and retained only the business centered on the production and sale of Yakuyō Yōmeishu.
Yakuyō Yōmeishu is a long-selling product with a history of approximately 400 years, but sales have been sluggish due to the impact of rising prices. Revenue from related businesses for the fiscal year ending March 2026 was ¥8.198 billion, down 4.3% from the previous fiscal year.
