Apple has announced the MacBook Pro with a PROLED XDR display. Features include the first touch input on a Mac, Dynamic Island, a thinner and lighter design, and the high performance and long battery life of M5 Pro and M5 Max.
The key features of the announcement are the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with PROLED XDR displays, offering peak HDR brightness of up to 2,000 nits, a 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio, a 120Hz variable refresh rate, and support for the wide P3 and Adobe RGB color gamuts. A new display engine and tandem OLED technology enable reference-quality visuals on the go.
As a dynamic new feature, touch input has been introduced for the first time on a Mac, while Dynamic Island serves as the home for Spotlight, Live Activities, and Siri AI. The models are significantly lighter, weighing 1.38 kg for the 14-inch model and 1.82 kg for the 16-inch model, and offer up to 24 hours of battery life. Equipped with M5 Pro and M5 Max, they provide up to 128GB of unified memory and up to 16TB of storage to support AI features and demanding workflows.
The audio system also features a six-speaker configuration with Dolby Atmos support, while connectivity has been enhanced with Thunderbolt 5, Wi‑Fi 7, and Bluetooth 6. Integration with macOS 27 Golden Gate, Siri AI, and Apple Intelligence is intended to improve app performance and work efficiency. The design’s use of recycled materials and contribution to carbon-neutrality goals are also emphasized as elements of its environmental considerations.
